Plan Adoption

On September 20, 2018, the City Council approved a professional services agreement with the Planning Consultant, Kendig Keast Collaborative (KKC) for the purposes of developing a Comprehensive Plan and Thoroughfare Plan update. Following multiple public engagement opportunities, on September 19, 2019, the City Council adopted a new Comprehensive Plan titled, Historic Past, Bold Future: Plan 2040.

About the Plan

The Comprehensive Plan is a long-range planning document which will identify and prioritize the City's needs and goals for the next twenty years. The plan examines the needs of the community holistically to ensure that land uses are supported by infrastructure and facilities. Some elements of the plan include:

Citizen Engagement

The Comprehensive Plan process included a large public input component. Citizens, local businesses, local elected and appointed officials, and all community stakeholders were strongly encouraged to participate in the 12-month planning process.
